Dear fans, riders and teams!
Our journey has come to the fourth event of 2018 – our team’s home race at Grobnik race track in Croatia. A big highlight of the Grobnik event was the new tarmac and the fact that our race was the first official race for a new era of Grobnik race track. So the hunt for a new lap record was on.
Grobnik is a unique track in our calendar, its proper old school motorcycle race track with flowing nature and very high average speed of the lap. With new changes to the track it has become even faster and what is most important safer for racing.
One more highlight of our home race is the beautiful Croatian coast that is nearby our race track so many of you had a chance to relax on the sea side.
Racing wise we enjoyed proper racing in all classes. In SSP300 Roman Kucera won race one and was leading race two but unfortunately he lost the front and the battle for victory was between Taric Van Der Merwe, Michal Bulik and Samuel Lochoff. Unfortunately for Van der Merwe he crashed in fight so the third place on the podium went to Vojtech Schwarz. Victory went to Michal Bulik, Samuel Lochoff was second.
In STK600 class Alen Gyorfi was unstoppable. He won the first race in front of Gerold Jun. Gesslbauer and Lukas Walchhutter. In second outing Gesslbauer did the fastes lap of the race but it wasn’t enough to stop Gyorfi so the pair stepped on the podium again and were joined by Danny Raavad.
Gergo Molnar vs Martin Vugrinec. A duo that prepared an epic show whole weekend long. Martin was the pre-race favorite but Molnar was always one step ahead. Crowd and fans watching live stream had a chance to enjoy a proper fight without gloves. Molar took the victory in both races. Vugrinec had to settle for second while the last podium spot went to Luca Tommasini in both races.
In this class one rider is unstoppable this season – Michal Filla. Victory in every race, 6 out of 6 and he continued his perfect score in both races at Grobnik. But these two victories didn’t fall from the sky. He had to work really hard for them. Filla was pushed to the limit by Michal Prasek who took the lap record of the new Grobnik tarmac with 1:26.585 sec. and even that wasn’t enough to stop Filla. The third place went to Arnaud Friedrich in both races.
In the strongest class Superbike Julian Mayer dominated in both races. And that’s not all, he even dragged his helmet in practice sessions, so now we can say we have a first official helmet down moment in Alpe Adria International Championship. Philipp Steinmayr tried to take an early lead but Mayer was on another level this weekend. An amazing 7.7 sec advantage in the first race and 8.1 sec in the second race. Steinmayr took two second places, while Andreas Fichtenbauer came third in the first race and Vile Valtonen stepped on the third podium place in the second race.
Our next stop is Red Bull Ring, we hope you will enjoy your summer holidays and that we will see you there.
We as a team are really happy and proud with the outcome of this fourth round of our first season as a promoter of Alpe Adria International Championship. We are trying to improve in every race weekend to give you the best support we can.
